About California State University
Accreditation
CSU Monterey Bay is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).
The WSCUC accreditation process aids CSU Monterey Bay in developing and sustaining effective educational programs. It assures the academic community, the general public, and other organisations that this University meets high standards of quality and effectiveness.
Campus
Founded in 1994 on the former site of Fort Ord by educators and community leaders, CSU Monterey Bay faculty and staff build on that legacy as we explore innovative ways to meet the needs of a new generation of students while simultaneously powering the Monterey County economy.
The campus sits halfway between the Monterey Peninsula, which features the coastal communities of Pacific Grove, Monterey, Seaside, and Carmel, and the Salinas Valley, known as the "Salad Bowl of the World" for its abundant agricultural production.
The campus straddles the cities of Seaside and Marina, which are small, diverse communities where many students live and work.
City Conditions
In Monterey, the summers are short, comfortable, dry, and mostly clear, and the winters are cold, wet, and partly cloudy. Over the year, the temperature typically varies from 44°F to 68°F and is rarely below 37°F or above 77°F.
Housing
East Campus CSUMB students with families, graduate students, earned a minimum of 90 units, and those 21 years of age and older are eligible to live in these apartments. The two-bedroom, one bath apartments offer a convenient commute to university classes and campus activities.
Living Learning Programs
Living Learning Programs at CSUMB are communities where students of similar interests and/or academic studies live together and participate in intentional learning about their chosen program or common interest as a collective.
International Program
International students who will live on campus are scheduled to move into the residence halls earlier than other student groups. This allows for attendance at special events, including International Student/NSE Orientation.
