Teaching came in my mind when I started 11th standard at Panoor Higher Sec. School, Kannur Kerala. It was the first day of my life, sitting at a co-ed school where a middle-aged professor came in my class with Kerala style attire (lungi and shirt). He introduced himself as Mr. Kunnikanan. Most of us thought he might be our Hindi Professor as my second language was Hindi. But to my surprise, he started teaching us English. It was such an unexpected and spectacular day in my life that his lecture still resonates in my ears. That was the day I learned not to be judgmental towards people. I started following his path and started taking tuition classes at home for school kids till 8th standard.
Happiness of teaching, learning, and earning continued till my B.Sc. Computer Science at Mahatma Gandhi Govt. Arts College, Mahe (UT). Those were the most memorable days of my life. Combined studies, parties, and no worries that made many memories to be cherished. During the same time, I met the most intelligent twenty-three classmates of my life. Most of my college expenses like going for educational tour were borne by me that gave a sense of independence and satisfaction. In addition to this, a different passion knocked into my life which was farming. The reason being strange as Computer Science department was just adjacent to the Botany department at Mahe College. I used to farm Okra, brinjal, tomato and many other vegetables in my kitchen garden. During those times, Govt. of Kerala was also promoting kitchen farming.
Teacher in me got fine-tuned and polished while I was doing my M.Sc. at K.M. Centre, Pondicherry. Entirely a different life began. Hostel, different food, away from home, daily seminars, internal marks, projects, and project presentations. Those days our entire class of twenty students used to stand and deliver seminars as compared to sitting and listening to our professors.
Now as a professional, I like to make applications that will ease our work, to work with NGOs and develop websites. I had conducted shadow-teaching for summer students at Sheffield Hallam University and Aston University, UK. I enjoy my duties as the Year In-charge of SYBSc IT students, PSU Champion, and various administrative role like organizing Degree distribution Ceremony and interacting with other departmental teachers with technical assistance as an IT expert. Occasionally, I enjoy playing badminton and table tennis with my students and sports In-charges.
