About University of South Carolina
Accreditation
The University of South Carolina Beaufort is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate, baccalaureate, and masters degrees.
Campus
The Beaufort campus overlooks the Intracoastal Waterway in quaint Beaufort, S.C. You'll study in the heart of the sea islands surrounded by the unique culture, environment, and aesthetics woven into this community over its 300 year history. You'll live within walking distance of shops and galleries, casual seafood and five-star restaurants, and the waterfront park.
City Conditions
Housing
All new students are required to live on campus unless eligible for an exemption based on one or more of the following reasons. Please read the options carefully and choose the option that best applies to your situation.
If you submit an exemption request, please include all required documentation. Incomplete requests will not be approved until all supporting documentation is provided.
• Guide and Move In Day Info
Move In Day information is emailed to students who will live on the Bluffton and Beaufort campuses and their families before the start of each new semester. USCB's Welcome Guide, a guide to living in student housing, is found below.
• Housing Forms
Most housing forms are now in the StarRez portal, which is accessed with your Self Service Carolina username and password.
• Student Mail Services
Each resident is assigned an individual mailbox for their use as long as they reside in university housing. Residential students will be issued a key to access the mailbox. Packages that will not fit into the mailboxes are accepted by the Housing Office.
• Students will be notified when a package is delivered for them. Packages can be picked up at the Housing Office between 8:30am and 5pm, Monday through Friday. A photo ID must be presented at the time of pick-up.
• Visitation & Overnight Guests
All UCSB Residence Halls allow guests and overnight visitation during specified times throughout the week. For overnight guests, a form must be completed (including guest vehicle information if driving), signed by all roommates and returned to housing 24 hours before your guest arrives. Please note that no overnight guests under the age of 14 are allowed. A "guest" is described as anyone who does not live in that apartment. Overnight guest forms are available in the Housing Office during business hours or online. • Winter Break Stay
Students who need to stay in university housing between the Fall and Spring semesters must submit a formal request to housing@uscb.edu (Attn: Justin Shelley). The Director of Housing will review each request on a case-by-case basis.
• Summer and Short Term Housing at USCB
• Summer housing is available for USCB students, students from other institutions who are completing internships in the area, and for qualifying community groups.
• Housing for Conferences, Camps and Visiting Interns
A limited number of apartments are also available for attendees at conferences, summer camps, seminars and other community programs.
• Summer housing rates are $30 per night. Housing is available from mid May through the beginning of August. The summer housing application will be available beginning February 21st, 2022.
• Non-USCB students interested in summer housing should contact Justin Shelley, Director for Housing & Student Conduct, at shelley3@uscb.edu or 843-208-8722.
• Summer Housing for Current USCB Students
Payment for Summer housing will be incorporated into the student's university bill (similar to Fall and Spring). Summer bills will be available in mid-April. There is also a payment plan option. Please contact the Cashier for Student Accounts at (843) 208-8008 or email bursar@uscb.edu for more information on the payment plan.
• Student Employment Opportunities
UCSB Resident Assistant Job Description and Requirements

Candidates must be a full-time USCB student for at least one semester and have lived in the residence halls for at least one semester or have comparable community experience. Candidates must maintain a minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.50. Approved employment in addition to the RA job will be limited to 15 hours of on-campus or 10 hours of off-campus work.
