About University of Toledo
Established in 1872, the university became a member of the state university system in 1967. In the summer of 2006, it merged with the Medical University of Ohio to create the state's third-largest public university operating budget. .
Today, UT is one of 14 state universities in Ohio, and its primary mission is to 'improve the human condition'.
It offers more than 300 undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs, across law, engineering, business, and occupational therapy among its nationally ranked programs.
The University of Toledo Foundation will be guided by its commitment to:
- Integrity, respect and transparency..
- Earn respect, trust and confidence of donors and the general public.
- Have a long-term perspective and focus on growing a sustainable organisation.
- Our mission, and that of The University of Toledo, is to improve the human condition.
- A demonstrated desire to achieve excellence through innovation.
Campus
Sporting the colours midnight blue and gold, university sports teams are known as The Rockets, a shortened version of ‘Skyrockets’, a name dating back to the 1920s.
Toledo is an industrial and entrepreneurial city known for its car assembly plants and glass manufacturing (hence its nickname ‘The Glass City’).
The campuses at UT offer 200 student organisations and art exhibitions, athletic games, theatre performances, and talks by public figures such as the radio host Robert F Kennedy Jr. and the author Toni Morrison.
A demonstrated desire to achieve excellence through innovation.
City Conditions
Housing
All first-year and second-year students who live outside of a twenty-five-mile radius from the university must live on campus and participate in the meal plan program. Living on campus allows students to focus on what matters most. Statistics show students who live on campus have higher grade point averages, are more involved, and have higher retention rates.
Conveniently located close to dining and classes, on-campus housing is a hassle-free, safe home to live with friends and enjoy the University of Toledo in students' backyard. As a student required to live on campus next academic year, we recommend students apply now so current residents can get the best choice of rooms on campus.
