Sporting the colours midnight blue and gold, university sports teams are known as The Rockets, a shortened version of ‘Skyrockets’, a name dating back to the 1920s. Toledo is an industrial and entrepreneurial city known for its car assembly plants and glass manufacturing (hence its nickname ‘The Glass City’). The campuses at UT offer 200 student organisations and art exhibitions, athletic games, theatre performances, and talks by public figures such as the radio host Robert F Kennedy Jr. and the author Toni Morrison

City Conditions

THE GLASS CITY : The University of Toledo and the city of Toledo have a lot in common. Grit and determination. An innovative and engaged community. Add a dollop of Midwestern friendliness. Toledo is located in northwest Ohio near the shores of western Lake Erie. More than 600,000 people live, work and play in the Toledo metropolitan area. The city has long been known for its auto manufacturing and glass industry. But it has a growing reputation as a great place to start a career and make a home. Toledo is home to the famous Mud Hens baseball team, Jeep headquarters and the world-renowned Toledo Museum of Art. Enjoy family-owned restaurants that have been around for decades and recently-opened farm-to-table restaurants and microbreweries.

Housing

Apartment Guide has created a specialty apartment search for The University of Toledo to help students, faculty, and employees find the best off-campus living options. With a large inventory of multifamily apartments, students won’t have to waste their valuable time looking all over. All first-year and second-year students who live outside of a twenty-five-mile radius from the university must live on campus and participate in the meal plan program. Living on campus allows students to focus on what matters most. Statistics show students who live on campus have higher grade point averages, are more involved, and have higher retention rates. Conveniently located close to dining and classes, on-campus housing is a hassle-free, safe home to live with friends and enjoy the University of Toledo in students' backyard. As a student required to live on campus next academic year, we recommend students apply now so current residents can get the best choice of rooms on campus.

International Students Association

The Indian Students Cultural Organisation (ISCO) is a non-profit organisation for all students from India, of Indian descent, or interested in Indian culture. It has been given the Best Student Organisation Award consecutively from 2001 to 2004 and the 3rd Best Student Organisation Award for 2014-2015. Our primary objectives are to promote service and leadership opportunities and create an environment where students of different backgrounds can bond over our beloved culture. For our many international students, we know how tough it is to travel to a new country, thousands of miles away from home, and to settle down in American culture, as well as feeling homesick from all your friends and family back home. Our Indian-American students understand how important it is to find people like you who understand the balance of being both American and Indian and making sure you still stay connected to your heritage. We endeavour to complement student academic programs and enhance the overall educational experience of students through their participation in social, cultural, intellectual, and recreational activities. Our organisation tries to spread the word of “togetherness” by bringing one community to share Indian culture, regardless of gender, race, orientation, etc.

Assistant Professor

Information Technology

My Teaching Profession began when I was in 11th Standard. Till my SSC, I studied in Govt. Boys High School, Palloor, Mahe which is a small town in the Malabar Cost of Indian peninsula. During my school days, my hobbies were swimming and cycling that was common amongst most of my friends. During monsoons, almost half a year, we enjoyed swimming and cycling.

Teaching came in my mind when I started 11th standard at Panoor Higher Sec. School, Kannur Kerala. It was the first day of my life, sitting at a co-ed school where a middle-aged professor came in my class with Kerala style attire (lungi and shirt). He introduced himself as Mr. Kunnikanan. Most of us thought he might be our Hindi Professor as my second language was Hindi. But to my surprise, he started teaching us English. It was such an unexpected and spectacular day in my life that his lecture still resonates in my ears. That was the day I learned not to be judgmental towards people. I started following his path and started taking tuition classes at home for school kids till 8th standard.

Happiness of teaching, learning, and earning continued till my B.Sc. Computer Science at Mahatma Gandhi Govt. Arts College, Mahe (UT). Those were the most memorable days of my life. Combined studies, parties, and no worries that made many memories to be cherished. During the same time, I met the most intelligent twenty-three classmates of my life. Most of my college expenses like going for educational tour were borne by me that gave a sense of independence and satisfaction. In addition to this, a different passion knocked into my life which was farming. The reason being strange as Computer Science department was just adjacent to the Botany department at Mahe College. I used to farm Okra, brinjal, tomato and many other vegetables in my kitchen garden. During those times, Govt. of Kerala was also promoting kitchen farming.

Teacher in me got fine-tuned and polished while I was doing my M.Sc. at K.M. Centre, Pondicherry. Entirely a different life began. Hostel, different food, away from home, daily seminars, internal marks, projects, and project presentations. Those days our entire class of twenty students used to stand and deliver seminars as compared to sitting and listening to our professors.

Now as a professional, I like to make applications that will ease our work, to work with NGOs and develop websites. I had conducted shadow-teaching for summer students at Sheffield Hallam University and Aston University, UK. I enjoy my duties as the Year In-charge of SYBSc IT students, PSU Champion, and various administrative role like organizing Degree distribution Ceremony and interacting with other departmental teachers with technical assistance as an IT expert. Occasionally, I enjoy playing badminton and table tennis with my students and sports In-charges.
